Salinity from the Ground Up - challenging land management in our catchments

NSW PUR$L Workshop 2005

The Central West CMA & the Lachlan CMA are jointly hosting a regionally focussed salinity workshop with the support of the National PUR$L Committee. The event is planned for 25 th , 26 th & 27 th October 2005 and will be held in Wellington & Cowra NSW. As hosts the CMAs have set the themes for discussion. Papers are being invited to specifically address these three themes.

  • Theme One - "Who pays for whose benefits?"
    • How to cost on-site vs off-site benefits of management of saline lands
    • Salinity accounting
  • Theme Two - "How do we target investment and activity at a catchment scale?"
    • How do we consider biophysical and social drivers
    • How do we get bang for our buck?
  • Theme Three - "How do we put a land management system together on a mixed farm?"
    • Mixed farming examples as case studies
    • Presented by Landholders, advisors or both
